Hey guys! Tomorrow we will conduct experiments over the nervous system.  In groups of 5, we will discover how and why the nervous system distinguishes one touch from two touches using pencils, a ruler, and a group member to experiment on.  Each group will also design a second nervous system experiment of their own which will be conducted on Wednesday and presented on Thursday using a given form of technology.
Check out this awesome 3D model of a neuron!  Can you identify the cell body, nucleus, dendrites, axon, axon terminal, and myelin sheath?  Record both the name and time of appearance of each part and turn in for extra credit tomorrow.  What do you think are the functions of each part?

Science Plus is an area with links to science extras for those whose interests have been piqued.  The information following will not be reflected on the test and is purely for your curiosity :)

Beginning this week, we will begin our module on the human body and function. Systems covered include the the following: skeletal, muscular, circulatory, nervous, endocrine, digestive, and immune. Learning all these parts and functions can be quite challenging.  Try these links for a little extra practice:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/body/index_interactivebody.shtml

Hi all, and greetings from Ms. Jacks' 7th grade science class.  In this blog, you may find a "collage" of all things science among a timeline of homework assignments and classroom highlights. Please feel free to comment on all content as we explore together.
